About

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Program is an Australian government initiative designed to deepen the relationship between Australia and other countries in the Indo-Pacific Region. Dr Tieling Zhang working in School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering was successfully awarded an NCP grant in 2017 with project entitled ”Wind Energy Technology, Production and Management China Wind Energy Industry Study Tour”. This project aims to support a two-week interactive study tour to China for domestic students in mechanical, mechatronic or electrical engineering, to observe and engage with wind energy application, wind turbine development, condition monitoring, manufacturing and wind farm operation management in China. A broad range of engineering professional programs will be held in association with three key universities and industry partners in wind energy.

Outcomes

The expected outcomes from this project are that students will experience the business and trading in renewable energy in China. Furthermore the study tour will provide students with the opportunity to build their future business networks, and observe operation and management of large wind farms, wind turbine design and manufacture in China.

This study tour will counts towards the Professional Experience required by the degree (2 weeks).
