Professor Buddhima Indraratna to deliver Inaugural Proctor Lecture in 2016
Professor Buddhima Indraratna has achieved one of the highest honours in the field of Transport Geotechnics, the Inaugural Ralph Proctor Lecture. The International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) established the “Proctor lecture” in August 2013 in Paris to recognise outstanding professionals who have contributed to the field of ground transportation infrastructure.
Ralph Roscoe Proctor was a famous army engineer in USA during the 1st world war who invented the Soil Compaction Theory. At a recent meeting of relevant ISSMGE Technical Committees and the Transportation Research Board (USA) in Washington, the decision was made to award this Inaugural Ralph Proctor Lecture to Buddhima, who is expected to deliver it in Portugal in Sept. 2016 at the next International Transportation Conference.
